Diction Acquires Sententia

Diction boosts its position in the Nordics via the acquisition of Norwegian company Sententia AS

Diction has undertaken the strategic acquisition of Norwegian translation agency Sententia AS – a company that has established itself as a solid supplier of Nordic language translations to the international market. Through this acquisition, Diction further strengthens its presence in Norway and expands its client portfolio to include more international agency clients.

Sententia – Nordic Supplier to International Agency Clients

Sententia’s client portfolio consists of international agency clients from countries such as France, the USA, Germany, New Zealand, the UK and Spain. For these clients, Sententia is their established language services provider for Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and Danish. The team behind Sententia consists of three employees – one of whom will stay on to ensure a successful integration. The company’s annual turnover is around NOK eight million – or approximately DKK five million.

Diction Brings Commercial Capabilities

At Diction, CEO Martin Boberg sees the acquisition as a natural opportunity to improve Diction’s position even further as a Nordic language services provider on the European market.

“Sententia has built up an international client portfolio through efficiency, stability and respect for the task of translation. At Diction, we can supplement this with commercial competencies to enable further growth while also attaining synergies. Diction is able to boost capacity by virtue of its larger translator pool, its bigger project management team, its automated processes and its growth-oriented, active leadership. This combination makes us a stronger business on all fronts.”

A New Beginning – The Best Move for Sententia and Their Clients

Alvin Leer, founder of Sententia, says:

“Over the years, we have focused on delivering quality with efficiency and integrity. Diction shares our values and ambition to be a central language services supplier in the Nordics. I therefore see the opportunities in forming part of a larger Nordic organisation with a strong team, better infrastructure and a clear growth strategy.”

Alvin then adds:

“In a market undergoing great change, it’s necessary to have a solid foundation, and by becoming a part of the Diction Group, all of our translators can continue to do their work – and that brings me great joy.”

As the Founder and Managing Director of Sententia, Alvin Leer will be stepping down with immediate effect to pursue a new entrepreneurial project instead. One Project Manager from Sententia will stay on and oversee the integration with Diction.

More Acquisitions In Sight for Diction

The integration process began in October 2025 and is being run as a part of Diction. With the acquisition of Sententia, Diction continues its expansion in the Nordic Region and consolidates its position as one of the region’s key suppliers of language services.

Martin Boberg says:
“In the language industry, technological developments have meant that translation agencies need to adapt both technologically and organisationally, and we are seeing an especially strong demand for data security. These are tasks that require resources to solve cost-effectively, and which demand specialist knowledge to a greater extent than was previously the case.”

In summary, Martin Boberg adds:
“We are in on-going dialogue with colleagues from the industry who are facing these dilemmas and want to continue to operate as a healthy business. Consolidating better equips us to meet the needs of the future – so if any of my colleagues reading this want to explore the possibilities, get in touch.”
